How long will it take to get my new metalwork?Time frames depend on various factors including; time of the year, suppliers, weather/ground conditions. We try our best to make sure you don't have to wait too long, however sometimes it is outwith our control. The quickest way to get it done as quickly as possible is to start your order and pay your deposit as soon as you can as this will avoid unesessary delays.

How much will it cost for new metalwork?Our price will include the cost of materials, labour to fabricate your metalwork, delivery and installation, as well as the cost for galvanising. Galvanising is a third party service that we pay to have done, and is included in your final price. Steel prices fluctuate, therefore a quote needs to be provided to give you the cost. The quickest way to get a price is to send in as much details as possible through our online quote form. The price on the quote is valid for 2 weeks (14days) before a new quote has to be given as that is the time frame our supplier give us.

Why do you galvanise the metalwork?We galvanise all our metalwork as standard to ensure the best possible result for our customers because in Scotland, our environment is predominantly wet, therefore, are more susceptible to corrosion, particularly in coastal regions. Is it worth paying the extra for powder coating?Yes! Powder coating gives the steel a protective layer that prevents colour fading from the sun that can last over 15 years* Powder coating is similar to paint, in terms of colouring the steel, however, it wont have brush strokes or drips and it won't need constant reapplying. How do I look after my newly installed metalwork?We have a page dedicated to the aftercare of your metalwork that will give you all the required details, However the general aftercare is: - no leaning or swinging on metalwork - clean regularly - check for damage regularly - oil hinges - tighten hinges or screws on locks etc

Is it normal to see welds after galvanising?Yes! Welds are what makes the work special. It is a handcrafted piece of art made from steel that's joined together with welds.

Is it normal to have imperfections in the finish?After fabrication, we send your metalwork to a third party company to be galvanised and powder coated. The company we use is the most reputable in Scotland and always aim for a clean finish, however, cosmetic imperfections are sometimes unavoidable as galvanising can cause uneven zinc distribution therefore some pooling, texture or rough spots are normal.

What should I do when the powder coating begins to fade?Out third party galvaniser & powder coaters state powder coating lasts up to 15 years before fading. When you feel your metalwork has faded enough to require some kind of maintenance. You can arrange for it to be shot blasted and re-powder coated to get it looking as good as new again.
